The objective of this programme is to set the scientific bases to improve forest management under Mediterranean conditions. Its specific objectives are to:

1.   Develop fire prevention techniques in highly combustible formations.

2.   Mitigate the negative effects of fires by protecting ecosystems in the short and mid term.

3.   Restore burnt and degraded mountain areas by setting up communities of plants that have a high fire response capacity and are drought-resistant.

4.   Conserve, improve and restore the value of Valencian (and also Mediterranean) woodlands by increasing their level of adaptation to disturbances (climate change and fires, and their interactions).
